As Memorial Day weekend approaches, Williamson County is hosting several meaningful opportunities for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families to connect, be honored, and participate in community events. This week features one of the largest military appreciation gatherings in Central Texas, along with a community fitness event and ongoing local resources
Saturday, May 23 Events
14th Annual Heroes Appreciation BBQ
Hosted by Heroes Resource Center / Heroes Night Out
Location: Reunion Ranch, 850 County Road 255, Georgetown, TX 78633
Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
This annual event is one of the largest military appreciation BBQs in Central Texas. It is open to veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and their families. Attendees can expect a full day of food, community engagement, and access to local businesses and nonprofit organizations that support the military community.
Memorial Day Freedom Run (5K / 10K / Half Marathon)
Location: Brushy Creek Lake Park, 3300 Brushy Creek Rd, Cedar Park, TX 78613
Start Time: 7:30 AM
This Memorial Day-themed run/walk honors those who served while welcoming participants of all fitness levels. The event is untimed, making it ideal for families, walkers, and casual runners. Participants can choose between a 5K, 10K, or half marathon distance.
